Welcome to Waterford English Language Centres.

Established in 1967, our school is a family-run, student-focused language centre located in the heart of Waterford city. We offer a wide selection of general and academic courses for both adults and juniors which are available all year round. Only a five-minute walk from the city centre, and based in a bright three-storey Georgian building with a beautiful walled garden and conservatory, we constantly strive to provide learning with a personal touch, to encourage students to partake fully in the countless cultural, sporting and social opportunities available throughout Ireland and to maximise the potential of each student who comes through our door.

We are the only Irish-Government-recognised language school in Waterford which is open all year round. Our fully-qualified teaching staff focus classes on the skills which students most need to develop (reading, listening, writing, speaking), using a wide variety of academic (Books/Cds/DVDs) and authentic materials (Newspapers/Documentaries/Movies). Classes include communicative practice exercises such as role-plays, dialogues, debates, discussion groups, and presentations. Our one-to-one classes are tailored to an individual student’s needs and our exam courses cover specific syllabi.

Our International Youth Summer Centre for junior students is located in the enclosed parklands of the Ursuline Secondary School which provide a safe and tranquil setting for morning sessions in bright spacious classrooms. In the afternoons, a fully-supervised programme of indoor and outdoor sports, games, cultural activities and social outings is provided for summer school students.

With 41 years experience in providing an unsurpassed learner experience, we believe that learning a language cannot be simply confined to the classroom and we pride ourselves in integrating our students as much as is possible into the cultural and social life of Waterford.
