Academic Secondary School/Junior/High School Programme (ASSP) Our extensive support programme ensures that students are never alone in dealing with the challenges that such a huge change involves. From finding uniforms to providing extra English classes and grinds in problem subjects, our priority is that students gain as much as possible from their time learning in Waterford. In many countries a year spent in an Irish school is recognised as part of the student’s schooling and is accepted as an academic year as if spent in the student’s own country. Only students between the ages of 9 and 19 are accepted for the above programme. The Schools Our schools represent some of the best educational institutions in Ireland both academically, historically and in terms of extra-curricular activities. Schools are chosen with particular students' needs in mind. We can offer a choice of single-sex schools, schools run by secular staff, or schools run by religious orders. The Families All of the host families which we use for academic placements have been part of our programme for many years and have been carefully selected to ensure that visiting students are made to feel part of the family as much as possible. Student requirements are paramount and much time is spent matching students to their ideal host home. Whenever possible families are chosen who will have children the same age as the student in order to maximize integration into the social and cultural elements of this programme. The Support Every student benefits from our peerless support network, focused solely on the successful integration of the student into Irish family, educational and social life and the maximization of the student’s enjoyment of their time in Ireland. We take the place of the student’s parents/guardian for the duration of the course and visit both the school and the student regularly and deal with all the day to day issues, problems and emergencies that may arise. Four Group English classes are also provided for programme participants at Waterford English Language Centres during the school term excluding holidays. * Applications are accepted throughout the year but due to high demand for schools the sooner the application is received the better the selection of schools for applicants.
