Social Program

Located in the Sunny South East, our school could have no better location for providing an unrivalled programme of extra-curricular activities and excursions.

Waterford boasts some of the most stunning coastline in the world and our students have swam, surfed, sailed, splashed, strolled, kayaked and canoed along most of it over the 4Canoeing1 years we have been in business. Mountain climbing and hiking have also featured strongly in our programmes as the beautiful Comeragh Mountain Range is located only 25 minutes from our academic centres. Our students have benefited from an almost limitless range of outdoor activities right on our doorstep, including horse-riding, quad-biking, archery, and golf.

Our Summer School Programme fills students’ afternoons with supervised sporting activities (tennis, bowling, pool, football, basketball, volleyball, pitch and putt, and swimming), arts and crafts, and cooking classes. We encourage our students to explore Ireland’s cultural heritage with local historical tours, and with visits to museums, ancient ships and Viking sites within easy reach of Waterford.

Our supervised half-day trips (usually on Wednesdays) explore Ireland’s renowned historical and geographical highlights; from the Norman splendour of Kilkenny Castle to leisurely travel of a bygone era on the Suir Valley Steam Railway , from the tranquillity of ancient Celtic forts to the hustle and bustle of Cork’s city markets.

A variety of day-long excursions allow our students to visit internationally famous tourist attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher, the Guinness Brewery, Killarney, Blarney CastleQuadding, Trinity College, the Rock of Cashel, and countless others.

We have also had great fun with our students on longer weekend visits to places like the Aran Islands, Belfast, Scotland, the Dingle Peninsula, Dublin and London.

Ireland is rightly noted for its’ vibrant social scene and we encourage our students to experience Irish ‘Craic’ (fun) at local disco nights, Irish dancing classes, visits to the theatre and cinema, evenings of traditional Irish music, and (for adult students only) occasional social visits to Waterford’s famous pubs.
